ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Denise

WHO I AM

Copy of Copy of Untitled.png

I have had twenty years of experience working in the non-profit sector raising funds to bring programs and services to help many of our area's most vulnerable community members. I'm a Steinert graduate (fun fact - I graduated with Principal Rogers) and currently work as the Chief Development and Communications Officer for Oaks Integrated Care. I have two children–one who graduated from SHS in 2021–and another who is about to begin her junior year.

While my children were growing and learning, I dedicated much of my free time to their schools' PTAs, first at Langtree Elementary School and then Crockett Middle School. Langtree Elementary School PTA awarded me an Honorary Life Membership at my youngest's 5th-grade ceremony and it is still one of my most cherished memories. As Crockett PTA president, I helped organize Mentor Day where nearly 300 district students attended to meet, learn, and be inspired by local mentors. Currently, I serve as Vice President of the Steinert Marching Unit Parent’s Association and proudly attend as many performances as possible.

WHY I AM RUNNING

I am honored to be able to continue to serve HTSD students and the community with my recent appointment to complete the remainder of former school board president Susan Lombardo’s term. Given all my experience in the district, I believe I make an excellent candidate to serve a full, three-year term. While I am a district graduate and a Mom, I also know about many of the triumphs and challenges our teachers experience because my own Mom was an ESL teacher (now known as ELL) in the Ewing Township School District. I also understand the immigrant experience since both of my parents came to this country for a better life in the 1970s. I know what it's like to grow up feeling out of place because my cultural background, religion, and overall presence were so different from most of those who surrounded me. As a young person growing up in a then not-so-diverse Hamilton, I also know how a welcoming smile or a simple greeting can change one's outlook on learning through belonging. While I'm so pleased to see how diverse we've become over time, I am eager to bring my unique perspective, skills, knowledge, and open mind to serve all the students, teachers, staff, and residents of our vibrant Hamilton community.
