Who I AM

Born and raised in Hamilton, I am married to an HTSD grad, and we are proudly raising our son as a 4th generation Hamiltonian and 3rd generation HTSD student. My roots in the community are deep thanks to my Dad–a Stanton, and my Mom–a Myles. My Myles grandparents were very involved in the Hamilton community, lending their support to the building of St. Gregory the Great Church.

I started my career as an early childhood Montessori educator in Raleigh, NC, returning to the area to continue in Montessori education in West Windsor. For the last 10 years, I have worked with disabled children, young adults, and their families in Mercer and Middlesex counties. On any given day, I address student academic or occupational needs; or  undertake IEP-related advocacy work) I specialize in autism and neurodevelopmental disorders. I always keep in the forefront of my work, the unique and individual challenges of special needs families.

WHY I AM RUNNING

As an elected BOE member, parents and caregivers of HTSD students with special needs will have a strong voice at the table. I am eager to take on the role of examining HTSD’s department of Student Services and Programs in an effort to understand how much money the department receives and how it spends those dollars for the benefit of the special education population. I will also request to be the BOE liaison to the district’s Special Education Parent Advisory Group (SEPAG).

Additionally, I am interested in learning about, and reviewing, what the district has done to improve security and infrastructure in the district from the board side of the table. We all want our students to learn in a safe and secure environment. I am also committed to helping the HTSD Administration find ways to bring Universal Pre-K to the district–a challenge given our growing student population and limited building space–but I am determined!
